Tod &Vixey from Disney's The Fox and the Hound
The Fox and the Hound showed a vast improvement by Disney's Animation Department. I have two cels from this sequence, this is the better one.
Vixey, Tod, & Big Mama from Disney's The Fox and the Hound
These Cels are from the first scene that Tod sees Vixey. One night, I was browsing the Web and came across a great Cel of Vixey. I already had a nice Cel of Tod and Big Mama, (the owl that introduces Tod and Vixey), that I had bought earlier at an auction. I thought that they would be great to frame together if I could persuade the owner to sell it to me. Well he wouldn't sell, but, he told me where he had seen some at a gallery (Thanks Mike). I looked around some more, and in less than 3 weeks I had found one at an another gallery, and one at an upcoming auction, for a total of four. I calculated the price I should bid at the auction to get a better price than the lowest gallery, (remember to include buyers premium and local sales tax to your auction bids). Well, I wound up buying it from the first gallery. They turned out to have the best prices, about 35% less than the one at auction went for, and less than half the price of the other gallery. Moral: If you want it, shop around and know what it's worth. By the way, I framed these two cels together, about the way you see them here.
A production Model Sheet of Tod and Vixey from Disney's The Fox and the Hound
This model sheet was used by the animators to keep the relative sizes of Tod and Vixey consistant durring production. Note the drawing of Tod and Big Mama at the lower right.
Disney's Aristocats from 1970.
Duchess & O'malley from two different scenes. I ran acrossthese cels in an auction catalog, and of the several cels I bidon, these are the only ones I bought. It can be very useful to keep up on the current prices that certain types of cels are going for. That way you'll know what a fair price for a piece is. Remember that many auctions have a buyer's premium in addition to local sales tax that can add hundreds of dollars to the price of a cel.
Maid Marion & Skippy from Disney's Robin Hood
This was my first Disney cel. As you can see, I have added several more since I got
this one. Robin Hood is generally considered to be the low point among Disney's
Animations. The Animation is good, but the story line, and sound track are not up to
standard Disney Quality. On the other hand, I own more pieces (4) from this animation,
than any other.
Robin Hood from Disney's Robin Hood
Ok, I know I panned Robin Hood as a animation all ready on this page. Somehow,
I keep managing to get these cels. Only a few more, and I will have all of the major
characters.
